Insulin Resistance

No long confined to ponies on lush grass, the problem of laminitis has become widespread throughout the horse population and occurs at all times of year. A major underlying factor in this is Insulin Resistance (IR), which is also known as Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS).

Hoofcare is an important factor in dealing with chronic laminitis, but it must be remembered that laminitis is not the cause of the problem so correct management is essential.
